Muscle Activation Techniques
...Yet, muscles, like everything else in life, require
consistent maintenance and the occasional “tune-up.”
Amazingly enough, when we are in need of that “tune-up,” our
bodies give us signs like muscular tightness, weakness, and
pain. Unfortunately, many of us have been conditioned to
ignore these signs. This can create compensations on many
levels, which can lead to joint degeneration and muscular
injury. Yet, all this can be managed and potentially
avoided.
Greg
Roskopf’s Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is a systematic
approach of restoring muscular strength and balance around
the joints of the body. This modality of treatment is
designed to specifically focus on strengthening weak
muscles. The old saying, “the weak link rules the chain,”
is 100% correct. The stability and strength of our bodies
as a whole is dependent upon the strength of its weakest
muscles. Therefore, without addressing these muscles the
body will never reach its true potential for strength. MAT
strengthens the body by activating those weakened muscles,
which restores their ability to forcefully contract on
demand and control the forces being placed on them. As a
result, the body’s total strength and power increases, while
the risk of injury decreases.
Who uses
MAT?
-
Athletes from the professional through the recreational
levels
-
Those with joint pain and injury
-
Those who want to avoid surgery or have had surgery
-
Those who want to be stronger
What does
MAT
do?
-
Restores muscular balance and stability to the joints of
the body
-
Reduces muscular pain and tightness
-
Provides an optimal healing environment for
musculoskeletal injuries, including pre and post
surgeries
-
Reduces compensations and strengthens the body
Where is
MAT
done?
-
Treatments are typically performed on a massage table or
a flat surface
-
Treatments are done at a facility, home studio, or
clients location
-
Treatments are typically done in a private room
-
Some treatments will extend onto the gym floor to
reinforce activation with exercise
Why use
MAT?
-
To
reduce joint limitations, compensations, and pain
-
To
increase strength and performance
-
To
better prepare the body for exercise
-
To
attain a higher level of health
How do I get an
MAT
treatment?
-
Start by filling out the Health Status Questionnaire
-
Schedule an appointment for your initial evaluation by
listing the days and times of availability
